All Music Guide Review

Malcolm Stanners and David Gates, big believers of the recuperative powers of global techno, released The Energy after the song's success on John Digweed's Global Underground: Los Angeles and Gates' Patient Saints side project landed in the limelight of Paul Oakenfold's Swordfish soundtrack. Regrettably, the song's good timing and cost-conscious length, nearly 40 minutes for a single, were overshadowed by its frail and conventional impact. The Energy was not as light as Salt Tank's previous releases and only the tribal Underworld feel of DJ Remy's remix could connect. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide
