All Music Guide Review
Another installment in this U.K. series devoted to capturing the essence of a single year, Music of the Year: 1988 centers itself around another round of safe pop hits, all the while attempting to cover a good deal of stylistic ground. Pebbles' "Girlfriend," the Mission's "Tower of Strength," Level 42's "Heaven in My Hands," Transvision Vamp's "I Want Your Love," and Aswad's "Don't Turn Around" are included; needless to say, you'd have to have extremely varied tastes to enjoy the whole disc. Strangely enough, the cover depicts some ravers, but the disc's lone representation of anything remotely dance-related is Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now." ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
