Given the extremes the ska genre has taken in the decade-plus that Johnny Socko has been at it, Double Live sounds positively authentic in comparison, even though the band does throw in enough rap and punk energy to keep them honest. The first disc is an entire live show recorded in the band's hometown of Bloomington, IN, and the second album, hopefully subtitled "The First Decade (1990-2000)," is a hodgepodge of live cuts that date back to the salad days of the hard-working Midwestern troupe. The very comprehensive liner notes make Double Live an excellent primer for a band who, on the cusp of ska sinking away from mainstream consciousness, sticks to their guns and plays with as much enthusiasm as ever before. ~ Brian O'Neill, All Music Guide
