Recorded the same day as the music released on the Master Jazz album Gee Baby, Ain't I Good to You, this is the superior of the two recordings. This CD reissue not only has the original five songs from the LP, but also previously unreleased versions of "Deed I Do," Sir Charles Thompson's "Almost Home" and "Moten Stomp." The classic swing singer Jimmy Rushing is joined by six veterans, including three fellow Basieites: trumpeter Buck Clayton (near the end of his playing career), trombonist Dickie Wells and drummer Jo Jones, plus Julian Dash on tenor, bassist Gene Ramey and pianist Thompson. They jam enthusiastically, if predictably on loose versions of jazz standards including "Baby Won't You Please Come Home," a blues medley, and "All of Me." ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
