One of the strongest volumes of the 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Series collections, The Best of Edwin Starr gathers most of the versatile Motown singer's memorable songs, including "Agent Double O Soul," "25 Miles," "Oh How Happy," and, of course, "War." Ranging from pure Motown pop to gritty funk and sleek disco, The Millennium Collection covers nearly every style Starr incorporated into his sound. Though the 1998 compilation The Very Best of Edwin Starr offers a more complete look at Starr's body of work, this album does almost as good a job and is also a solid introduction to his music. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
