    All Music Guide Review

Slinky's visit to the antipodean club culture capital, Sydney, was obviously well worth the trouble, resulting in a very impressive twin-CD package. Carrying oodles of energy, Slinky Planet: Sydney is a powerful, no-nonsense compilation of trance, rave, progressive, and hard house, courtesy of the Bournemouth nightclub. But fear not, it's not just a product for the pill-popping, glowstick crowd; there are enough catchy hooks and sweet vocals on here to keep the softcore clubbers tuned in. The first CD takes off gently with Tukan's candy trance number, "Light a Rainbow," but then quickly moves up several gears and, with a few twists and turns along the way, steams ahead nicely with the likes of "The Key" by Lexos, Storm's "Storm," and "Wotz da Number" by the Beat Renegades. The second CD is trance and progressive to begin with, but then dabbles in harder-edged sounds, including Mauro Picotto's aggressive number, "Baguette." This set may have been recorded down under by a Bournemouth club, but most of the artists featured are continental European, and the whole thing actually has the feel of a night out in a top club somewhere in Germany. ~ David Peter Wesolowski, All Music Guide
