All Music Guide Review
The second volume of ZYX's Best of Breakdance and Electro Boogie is a decent compilation of electrified R&B, old school rap, and electro singles -- all of which were released during the '80s. Call these songs kitschy and goofy all you want, but when it comes down to it, most of them still stand up considerably and force anyone within earshot to dance. Highlights abound, including Indeep's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life," Freeez's "IOU," Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me," Afrika Bambaataa's "Don't Stop...Planet Rock," Grandmaster Flash's "The Message," and Whodini's "The Haunted House of Rock." Those looking for a deeper, more extensive look at a similar range of material should check out Tommy Boy's four-volume Perfect Beats series, released in 1998. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
