Cronica 2013 features a number of underground rappers affiliated with the Low Profile label teaming up for a bunch of gangsta-ish posse tracks. As the album title and cover (which both reference Dr. Dre's 2001 album) may lead you to presume, this album is mostly about blazing up the chronic, passing it to your homies, and getting as high as possible. Some of the featured rappers who advocate the sticky-icky on this smoked-out album are Royal T, Frank V, OG Spanish Fly, Silencer, Califa Thugs, Drowsy, Mr. Sancho, and a few others. Besides puffin' on the Cali greens, the "Low Pro gang" rap about "jackin' ballers" and "bumpin' the real," which they also refer to as "hood music," at their "gangsta parties" that "don't stop." For the most part though, these blunt-blazin' Cali thugs are mostly all about getting high on the chronic and providing listeners a soundtrack to do the same to. Sure, it's kind of humorous and admittedly kind of fun in a stoned kind of way, yet even if you are trippin' on some freshly harvested purple haze, an entire album of get-high-to-this songs can be a little monotonous, as this album most certain does by the time you get to "Smells Like Weed" and "So High" around the album's halfway point. Much like when it comes to getting stoned, sometimes you can overdo it, something the Low Profile posse should have kept in mind. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
