All Music Guide Review

Following three albums with diminishing returns, WEA Latina cut Servando y Florentino loose in 2001 with Grandes Exitos, the duo's final album for the label. Clocking in at only ten songs, none of which are culled from Paso a Paso (2000), Grandes Exitos simply compiles the highlights from Los Primera (1998) and Muchacho Solitario (1999), the two Servando y Florentino albums laden with Ricardo Montaner compositions. (Montaner didn't contribute any songs to Paso a Paso.) All the major hits are here, including "Una Fan Enamoranda," "Aliviame," "Te Regalo la Luna," and "Mal Se Amor," so Grandes Exitos serves well as a summary of Servando y Florentino's two most popular albums for WEA. If you're a fan of the duo, you should consider skipping this skimpy best-of and getting the full-length albums: Los Primera is especially worth hearing in full, and in turn, you'll want Muchacho Solitario if you want to hear more (or if you're fond of the film). Paso a Paso isn't all that noteworthy in comparison and can be overlooked without much loss. On the other hand, if you're on a tight budget and just want the hits, Grandes Exitos should suffice. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
