By 1985, Poncho Sanchez's Latin jazz band had found its niche. This CD from the fine conga player finds his octet in excellent form on originals, obscurities, an unusual Latinized "Shiny Stockings," and "Tin Tin Deo." A couple songs have group vocals, but the emphasis is on the group's heated rhythms and the fine solos of Dick Mitchell (on alto and tenor) and trumpeter Sal Cracchiolo. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
