    All Music Guide Review

Brought to you by England's Q magazine, Q Anthems is a two-disc compilation of favorites that span the late '60s to the early 2000s. The Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset," David Bowie's "Heroes," the Clash's "London Calling," and the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen" represent the '60s and '70s. Though the sequencing has nothing to do with chronology, songs from the following decades surround those that predated them, including early-'90s selections from the La's ("There She Goes") and Primal Scream ("Higher Than the Sun"), along with songs that bring the set up to the date of its release: the Gorillaz's "Clint Eastwood," Radiohead's "Karma Police," Robbie Williams' "Let Me Entertain You," and Supergrass' "Moving." This is ideal for those who read the magazine religiously, and it also works pretty well as a very selected and condensed trip through Britain's rock-oriented pop music. Tracks from non-U.K. artists like Kraftwerk, Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys, Public Enemy, Wheatus, and Moby are also featured. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
