After achieving huge success throughout Europe with "La Bomba," popularized in the U.S. by Bolivian Azul Azul, Latin tropical/dance-pop project King Africa returned with Pachanga, covering Vilma Palma e Vampiros' "Pachanga" and featuring a modern up-tempo version of the Mexican traditional "Rancho Grande" and classic South American folk song "El Humahuaqueño." This record includes a remake of one of King Africa's first hits, "Salta 2001," the club/dance "Que Me Pincha," "Bailando Pump It Up," and the Cumbia-inflected "Johanna." The party-oriented Pachanga delivers an interesting combination of Latin and urban rhythms. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
