Nino Segarra

This is the recording that helped Nino Segarra gain considerable airplay and commercial success. Segarra's attractive, melodic charts are an added plus in a largely romantic repertoire, and do not depend greatly on the formulas of most late-'80s salsa; his original charts add relish to some of his better-known hits, such as "Porque Te Amo" (composed by Pedro Arroyo) and his smash "Como Amigo Si, Como Amante No" (by Manny Benito). Segarra knows how to put a production together and, like few singers of the new salsa expression, comes up with his own concept.
