They've shortened their name from Dash Rip Rock to Dash and their cowpunk approach has mellowed somewhat. The lyrics are mostly straightforward, the performances aren't particularly revved-up, and the album even includes some ballads. But this is still a fairly satisfying collection of songs. "Eventually Evangeline" is a genuinely catchy country-rock number, "Deep in the South of My Heart" lets you know that they haven't changed their geographical loyalties, and while their attempts at humor aren't always funny (I'm looking at you, "Monkeys"), they manage to sound relatively polished without sounding too slick. ~ Todd Kristel, All Music Guide
