    All Music Guide Review

The U.K.-based React label compiles nearly three dozen of the most popular trance anthems of 1999 and 2000 for its 21st Century Trance, Vol. 2 box set. The tracks aren't mixed together, which may frustrate you because it ruins the collection's sense of continuity and progression, but on the other hand it's nice to hear the songs in their original state, from beginning to end. Most of the tracks on this collection are remixed; usually the most well-known version of the track is featured, for example, the more popular "Matt Darey Remix" of Delerium's "Heaven's Earth" rather than the original mix. Since the early '90s, React had been respected as one of Europe's most prolific outposts for trance music. In this case, many of the featured tracks weren't necessarily released by React, but the label went out of its way to license them for this compilation. Since it compiles many of the best trance anthems of 1999 and 2000, it's a stellar collection for anyone with a taste for trance -- particularly the more progressive side of the style -- from this era. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
