Disky's Red Hot Rockabilly, Pt. 3 does have its share of rockabilly gems, but this is hardly a collection of raw, backwoods, wild-ass rockabilly -- the kind that fuels Bear Family's tremendous That'll Flat Git It series, for instance. This has a few solid rockabilly hits -- most notably Ricky Nelson's peerless "Waitin' in School," but also covers of big songs by major stars: Eddie Cochran's version of "Blue Suede Shoes," Johnny Burnette tackling "Kiss Me," plus lesser sides from Buddy Knox and a whole bunch of Bob Luman (which may suit some listeners' tastes, including mine, but not many). Essentially, this winds up as a bunch of country boogie and pop-abilly, not a lot of storming rockabilly, and while this isn't a bad thing, it would be more acceptable if there were better songs here. Most are just average, and while there may be items of interest to collectors, it winds up for a kind of blah listen. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
