Lyrics from Africanize
All Music Guide Review
The influence of Western dance music on African artists is well documented, but the utilization of African elements in Western dance music is less well documented. Africanize is a reasonably successful attempt at showing both sides of the equation. African artists like Salif Keita and Papa Wemba are put alongside acts like DJ Food and Up, Bustle and Out, and meeting on the middle ground are Baaba Maal and Hamid Baroudi being remixed by the likes of Thievery Corporation and DJ Krush, respectively. This is an interesting and instructive, though not totally cohesive, listen. ~ Sean Westergaard, All Music Guide
