The first Freakbeat Rarities collection was such a stone gas it made plenty of sense to issue a second set. From the first track, a cover of "In the Midnight Hour" by the Deejays with killer fuzz-box distorto guitar, to the roiling answer to Richard Berry's "Louie, Louie," here by the Transatlantics and called "Louie Go Home" (and which is wilder than anything the Beatles cut during these years), it's all stone groovy. Sure, there are a couple of questionable picks, but they are more than made up for by the raggedy-ass "Baldheaded Woman" by the Jay-Jays, "Shake, Shout & Go" by Brian Diamond & the Cutters (and the Cramps' Lux Interior definitely heard this one), and the fuzz blast of Gary Walker's "She Makes Me Feel Better." This baby is a worthy companion to the original. Snag it. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
