    All Music Guide Review

The title of Rhino's Martha Stewart Living: Quiet Time pretty much explains it all -- this is a collection of 14 songs designed for relaxing. Since this was released in 2002, that means there is a lot of mature pop here, including selections by Luka Bloom, Eva Cassidy (doing Sting's "Fields of Gold"), Duncan Sheik, Jann Arden with Jackson Browne, Amanda Ghost, and Sarah McLachlan. Since this is Rhino, there are some relatively hip choices here, including Tim Buckley, classic Emmylou Harris, Rosanne Cash, Jimmy Webb, and Wilco. As such, it's a little of two minds, balanced between its target audience of housewives yet wanting to retain Rhino's record-geek chic, but it does open up people that might not hear new music to some pretty good new music. And, on that level, it's a success, but it's a collection for fans of Martha Stewart, not for record collectors. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
