A touching and emotionally compelling movie deserves a movie soundtrack of the same quality, and with gratefulness, Joshua received just that. Filled with a group of guest artists, the album resonates with courage and soul as a inspiring work of musical art. Featuring exuberant young artists and experienced veterans, the album brought together musicians of unique styles and tastes to create a spiritually absorbing tapestry of uplifting melodies. Pete Orta opens up Joshua with a charming song of optimism and hope, "Braver Newer World." Rachael Lampa keeps the ball rolling next with a delightful acoustic medley of her own, "I'm All Yours," a courageous song speaking of being relentless and focusing on the appreciation of one's creator. The third track, "Excavate," is a lush and beautifully somber tune reflecting on how people would wonder of the life of a person who lived generations ago. Perhaps a song centering around the death of Jesus or a holy person, "Excavate" sings that "the greatest treasure is an empty tomb, and the things you love that are a part of you." The musicianship through each of the record's 12 songs is strong and fluid. "God So Loved the World" is a relaxing and gratifying song expressing "God's one and only Son" and everlasting love. The Christian rock band Third Day makes a special appearance with "My Hope Is You." Point of Grace enlivens the room with "Wings of a Dove." For spiritual people and regular listeners alike, this album is worth a spin. Filled with the almighty concepts of a higher power, peace, love, and community, the record can only be there to inspire and fill one's heart with warmth, rest, and peace, and the drive and desire to succeed and make the world a better place. ~ Shawn M.
