Medalist's compilation Miracle Hits has a great concept, and it's executed pretty well. It intends to gather 26 great one-hit-wonders over the course of two discs, ranging from '70s near-legends like the Stories and Pilot to contemporary hit-makers like Sixpence None the Richer. Of course, some of these artists classified as one-shot spectacular really had more to their catalog than that song - it could be New Radical's crystalline debut, Soft Cell, Chumbawamba's anarchist past, Dexy's Midnight Runners, or even the power-pop of the Knack or Tommy Tutone - but every song here is the one tune that the public knows the artist best for, either for better or for worse. For the most part, it's better, as this collection proves. Sure, a couple of these songs seem like novelties, but each song shines as a cool peak of pop invention, and the end result is a really enjoyable, listenable collection. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
