Verve Latin Sides collects many of the Latin bop numbers saxophonist Charlie Parker recorded during the late '40s and early '50s. While it is by no means a definitive representation of Parker's innovative contribution to the idiom, it is interesting to hear this work in one place. One caveat: This work is available on other Verve releases such as South of the Border: The Verve Latin-Jazz Sides, which basically mirrors the tracks available here. ~ Matt Collar, All Music Guide
