The Soul Survivors flamed out quite quickly, but their second album wasn't a bad bit of blue-eyed R&B. They could do effective hard-driving dance tunes or decent ballads, and while Gamble & Huff hadn't yet become legends, they provided workmanlike production and arrangements. What stopped The Soul Survivors was the fact that they were merely a good band, and in an era loaded with great ones, they couldn't generate enough "Expressway To Your Heart" gems to maintain audience interest. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
