Shalamar

Any Shalamar compilation that attempts to whittle the group's essence down to ten tracks is going to fail, but that's not really the point of this budget disc, which merely ties up ten of their most familiar singles. As a brief introduction, it's satisfactory, featuring "A Night to Remember," "Over and Over," "Right in the Socket," "The Second Time Around," "Make That Move," and "Take That to the Bank." If you're looking to dig a little deeper than this, go with just about any one of the several anthologies that includes far more material. A lot of Shalamar compilations favor short single edits over the full album versions. This, thankfully, isn't one of them. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
