    All Music Guide Review

For some strange reason, Collectables combined the fourth and fifth volumes of each their overviews for each decade (the '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s); the first three volumes dedicated to each decade were sold separately, while the fourth and fifth were bundled together. These two volumes cater to those who were into the mainstream hits of the decade, including songs such as Eurythmics' "Here Comes the Rain Again," Aretha Franklin's "Who's Zoomin' Who," Pseudo Echo's "Funky Town," Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," Boston's "Amanda," and -- run for the hills! -- Starship's "We Built This City." Since it more or less sticks to songs that aimed for the upper reaches of the charts and succeeded in doing so, there's less of the personality crisis issue that plagues some of the preceding volumes. While not many of the songs have dated well, they should be owned by any self-respecting wedding DJ. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
