The GC5 is a hyperenergetic street punk band out of the Cleveland area. The title of this record is a bit of a misnomer, since these aren't singles per se, but more a collection of B-sides, outtakes, and early 7" releases. For fans of the band and the genre, the album provides an interesting illustration of the progression of the band, from its early incarnation as something resembling random filler on an average Fat Wreck comp to a propulsive force all their own. While their early songs leave a little to a lot to be desired, "After All" stands out as a key track from most of the disc. Since this is street punk, song themes don't really range too far from the leftist side of the spectrum, capped off with a Billy Bragg cover at the end which somehow fits. While there are several worthwhile tracks on here, if you want to hear a better version of the band, go for the albums and the EPs. This collection is a bit too hit-or-miss for the average punk rawker. ~ Jeremy Salmon, All Music Guide
