Ultimate Power of Body & Soul doesn't quite live up to its name, but it does collect 24 funk, soul, and urban hits from the '70s and '80s, including the Commodores' "Three Times a Lady," B.T. Express' "Do It Til You're Satisfied," the Brothers Johnson's "Strawberry Letter No. 23," and Kool & the Gang's "Joanna." Disc one focuses on '70s funk and soul, such as the Ohio Players' "Love Rollercoaster" and Bloodstone's "Natural High," while disc two includes '80s urban hits like Atlantic Starr's "Always" and Al B. Sure!'s "Nite and Day." Though this isn't a definitive collection, Ultimate Power of Body & Soul has enough hits and interesting selections to create an enjoyable groove on each disc. Someone looking for a basic compilation should turn elsewhere, but this is a fairly enjoyable set for more dedicated fans. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
