Dillinja's reputation for fiercely intelligent and vocal-focused drum'n'bass was cemented with his oft-delayed debut album, Cybotron. From "Valve Sound" to "Nasty Ways," "Blaze It Down," "Funky Flow," and the steel drum motorcade of "All Aboard," the LP's closest comparisons were Grooverider's mid-'90s output or a less-claustrophobic John B.. Huge, over-excited dub basslines were continually thrown against funky jungle flange and walls of subhuman, snarling snare FX. And yet despite the obvious quality, one was left with a sense of air being let out after years of anticipation for the album's appearance, and you had to wonder how much Cybotron could've done for drum'n'bass if it had been released five years earlier. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide
