While this is by no means a thorough compendium of the best that early electronic, new wave, and synth pop had to offer, there are definitely some choice moments on this compilation that would be an excellent purchase to fill the holes in a CD collection. Kicking off very obviously with the Gary Numan classic "Cars" and working its way through some of the biggest synth hits of the era (from the Thompson Twins, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, etc.), this is a solid two-disc workout. However, all of the major artists who were prominent at the time aren't necessarily represented here by their best works. The Eurythmics and Yazoo definitely have strong songs in their arsenal which could have been better inclusions. There's also some unnecessary filler included (Jan Hammer's "Crockett's Theme"?) which, at times, increases the temptation to hit the forward key. But however minor these distractions may be, this is definitely a strong compilation overall, and one of the better available documents of the era. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
