This is a decent introduction to Johnny Clegg and Sipho Mchunu's groundbreaking group Juluka and, following Mchunu's departure in 1976, Clegg's subsequent band, Savuka. Combining rock and traditional Zulu elements in a multiracial band under South Africa's apartheid rule was nothing short of courageous, and although the keyboard-based sound of these two groups sounds a little dated today, the commitment and conviction at work in these songs carries the day. This compilation lacks Juluka's first significant song, "Waza Friday," but other than that, makes a fine introductory disc to some early Afro-pop treasures. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
