Born of the UK dance event known by the same name, Godskitchen: Life is a three-disc collection of semi-obscure, top-shelf trance tunes which celebrate a virtual evening from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. as envisioned by top Brit disc spinner John "00" Fleming. Fleming begins to track the arc of the party with the mid-tempo, ultra-filtered "Not My Fault" by Organica (who make a surprising second appearance here on the same disc, no less). The first disc proceeds with some generic moments of filler (James Holden's "Pacific (Acid Mix),"), well-paced instrumentals (Midway's "Monkey Forest"), and appropriately moodier moments (such as the Quadraphonics remix of Tillmann Uhrmacher's "On The Run"), but doesn't venture back to the pop elements heard on the lead-off track. Disc two (1:00 a.m.), however, begins a bit more aggressively with the KMC's U.S. Top 20 hit "I Feel So Fine." Fleming also gets around to some of his own work on the second disc, when he teams up with Les Hemstock for the faux middle-eastern vibe of "The Nazarean." As a capper to the "evening," the final disc in the set includes a brief lapse into monotony, with the extended rant that is Strobe's "Human Animal," before regaining its momentum with better moments such as Mauro Picotto's "Pulsar 2002." As is the case with several of these extended collections, they are decidedly not targeted at the novice listener as much as they are slated for the dance archivist, or the hardcore enthusiastic bent on recreating a long night out in the comfort of their own home or car. And while Fleming's nose for pop may not be in the right place for this compilation, his sense for the extended trance vibe is generally spot-on. ~ Joe Silva, All Music Guide
