Essentials features 12 of Sister Sledge's most recognizable tracks, including "We Are Family," "Lost in Music," and "Love, Don't You Go Through No Changes on Me." This collection offers a nice sampling of their disco and urban material, ranging from "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "B.Y.O.B (Bring Your Own Baby)" to their poppy cover of "My Guy" and quiet storm ballads like "All the Man That I Need." Essentials isn't much smaller than Rhino's The Best of Sister Sledge 1973 -- 1985, the most in-depth Sister Sledge retrospective available, which makes it a good choice for most fans. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
