All Music Guide Review
Though brief, Stash offers an incredible array of Cypress Hill recordings, half of which are remixed by in-house producer DJ Muggs, half by outside producers Fredwreck, Tony Morello, and the Alchemist. The Muggs remixes -- the "Harpsichord Mix" of "Illusions," the "Blackout Mix" of "Latin Lingo," and the "Slow Roll Remix" of "Throw Your Set in the Air" -- are mostly straightforward, never departing too far from the originals, often slowing down the tempo. Conversely, the outside producers do depart from the originals quite considerably: Fredwreck gives "Amplified" his patented G-funk sound, Morello infuses "Checkmate" with violent guitars, and the Alchemist delivers a serene yet incredibly paranoid version of "(Rap) Superstar." The resulting six-track collection of these previously released remixes offers much variety in a brief amount of time. Considering this, Stash shouldn't be written off as a throwaway B-sides collection but rather should be viewed as an interesting variation of the standard Cypress Hill sound. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
