Best known for their version of "Hippy Hippy Shake," which was a Top 40 hit in 1964, The Swinging Blue Jeans were one of the best live bands to come out of the Liverpool explosion in the mid-'60s, and, given access to better and more original material, they may well have given The Beatles a run for their money. As it was, they stuck largely to cover songs, including an interesting take on Clint Ballard's "You're No Good," first recorded by Betty Everett, but probably best known in the version released by Linda Ronstadt. This collection has too much of the latter era Blue Jeans to be a true introduction to this limited but interesting band. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
