Lyrics from Paramount Pictures 90th Anniversary: Memorable Songs

    All Music Guide Review

A nostalgic collection of familiar tunes released in honor of Paramount Pictures' 90th anniversary. From Bob Dylan's "Things Have Changed" to Bob Hope's "Thanks for the Memories," this disc honors a legacy of movie tie-in songs, many of which have become classics in their own right. Songs like "Stayin' Alive" and "Footloose" can still conjure up immediate images from the movies that made them popular, while Frank Sinatra's gorgeous take on "All the Way" and Doris Day's theme song "Que Sera Sera" are more likely to be appreciated for their own unique appeal than their film roots. On the whole, the selections are well-chosen, if overly familiar, and certainly representative of Paramount's contributions to popular music -- though K-Ci & JoJo seem a tad bit out of place amidst this pantheon of time-honored superstars. ~ Neil Shurley, All Music Guide
