The Swingle Singers usually performed baroque classical music but this album was a departure for they had an "encounter" with the Modern Jazz Quartet. Together the two groups blend together well and perform four Third Stream pieces by John Lewis and three classical melodies. The music is more for fans of the Swingle Singers than for followers of the MJQ although there are some good solos by vibraphonist Milt Jackson and pianist John Lewis. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
