Released in 1992, Pearl Flapper's Tango! The Dance That Swept the World! compilation celebrates the grand tradition of a passionate music and dance form that flourished in Buenos Aires during the first half of the 20th century, with 22 vintage recordings made between January 1932 and June 1940, a period during which the tango became enormously popular in England, Europe, and North America. Those who opt for this collection will experience Geraldo's Gaucho Tango Band, Don Sesta's Gaucho Tango Band, the La Plata Tango Band, Don Rinaldo & His Tango Orchestra, Mantovani & His Tipica Orchestra, and British dance bands led by Victor Silvester, Jack Harris, and Joe Loss. Tango! is the perfect counterpart for Proper's 1999 release The Story of the Great Argentine Tango Bands 1927-48. Both albums are excellent and there are no duplicate titles between the two. ~ arwulf arwulf, All Music Guide
