    Not to be confused with the compilation that once knocked the socks off a young, impressionable Frank Zappa, this collection features five very talented doo wop-era groups that appealed to the rebellious nature of young white teenagers in the dangerous small-town suburban streets of America in the '50s. Many of these groups deliver simple pop melodies with tight vocal harmonies, and do it very well. The names of the groups might be unfamiliar to many listeners, so the compilation could very well be of little interest to merely casual doo wop fans. But those looking to investigate the genre further and to explore beyond just the hits (many of which can be found on the excellent Rhino Doo Wop Box) will be well served by what Collectables has assembled here. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
