Given the band's moniker and tracks like "Psychofuckindelic" and "Union Street, " one might be led to believe this is a loose, jazz-loving combo. Instead, the record is an amalgam of punk, funk and roots music that veers from the brilliant ("Try") to the completely wretched. Mercifully, they would soon find their way, but this album doesn't nearly capture the unwieldy charm the band would become capable of later on disc and in the live setting. ~ Denise Sullivan, All Music Guide
