Lyrics from Hip Hop Allstars
All Music Guide Review
Hip Hop Allstars is a triple-disc set that runs through two discs of old school and golden age classics and then uses the final disc to provide a summary of U.K.-centric underground rap. Within the first two discs, highlights include DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince's "Summertime," Boogie Down Productions' "The Bridge Is Over," the Pharcyde's "Passing Me By," the 45 King's "The 900 Number," and Davy DMX's "One for the Treble." The more recent material comes from the likes of New Flesh ("Stick and Move"), Roots Manuva ("Dreamy Days"), Skitz ("Are You on It"), DJ Ace ("Crown Motivator"), and Non Phixion ("Say Goodbye to Yesterday"). If you're looking to tie up some loose ends in your collection while looking to be introduced to some unfamiliar sounds, this is a good deal that makes for a nice impulse pickup. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
