    Speed Not Comfort collects 28 tracks culled from Motörhead's heydays with Bronze Records (1979-1982), an era that was chronicled with superior results on Castle's 2002 four-disc box set Bronze Albums. It was a period that found the venerable British metal outfit at their creative and despicable peak, cranking out instant classics like "Ace of Spades," "Love Me Like a Reptile," and "Dirty Love," all of which can be found here, though not in their original forms. Speed Not Comfort feels more like a B-sides, alternate takes, and live cuts collection than a straight-up re-telling of the band's formative years, and while hardcore fans might welcome the diversion, casual listeners would be better off with one of the myriad "greatest-hits" compilations. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
