Hits of the Sixties is a collection of 30 popular songs from the '50s and '60s. Although there are definitely some songs added to pad the collection, this is mostly made up of very familiar pop songs from the era. What this collection features the most are excellent songs from female pop stars of the era. Betty Everett, the Shangri-Las, the Crystals, Mary Wells, and others add the sweet, melodic sounds of the girl group movement. On the other end of the spectrum, there are some wonderful pop songs from the Turtles, the Soul Survivors, the Vogues, and Del Shannon to represent the male perspective. While many CDs of this kind are known for having subpar sound, this actually has great sound, with no tracks being blatantly louder than the others and no annoying hissing.
