Backing away from the diversity of OU812, Van Halen turns in some of the most basic, straightforward rock & roll of the band's career on For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. At times, FUCK recalls the sleek hard rock of Hagar's early-'80s albums. The band is still tight and professional, and Eddie's guitar work remains impressive. The anthemic "Right Now" stands out as the most memorable song of the batch. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Every song on this album is worth hearing and the writing was at its peak even though Eddie was getting lazy and egotistical! Sammy saved the day and album again with great writing, don't get me wrong all the songs have Eddie's stamp and creativity, but each song was created by Sammy and then Eddie finished them with help from Alex and Michael! All who gave this less then 4 stars give it another listen and remember all these songs could go on the greatest hits with Sammy!
