The Wallace Brothers had two records that achieved a fair amount of air play on Southern, Eastern and Midwestern R&B stations: Faith and A Lovers Prayer. Both were recorded on primitive equipment (sounds like two-track to me) and featured two part harmony leads. Inspired by gospel influences, the innocent, down-to-earth lyrics and delivery overcame the skimpy instrumentation and unsophisticated equipment. "Precious Words" is similar to the their two hits, but didn't do quite as well, I guess the formula had played out. Lovers of simple, heartfelt soul will love this collection, there's nothing jive or slick about the Wallace Brothers, they're the real deal, and this recording accomplished in Florence, AL at the famous Fame Recording Studios attests to that. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
