Submit Your ReviewLike the other two collections of West Coast Rap: The First Dynasty, Vol. 3 promises more than it delivers, since it is short on genuine classics and long on novelties. Despite its flaws, Vol 3., like the rest of the West Coast Rap series, remains one of the best old-school hip-hop compilations on the market, since it was put together with some care and the overall quality of the music is quite high, even if certain names (Ice-T, Egyptian Lover, Kid Frost, 2 Live Crew, Bobby, Jimmy & the Critters) are a little too familiar from the disc's predecessors. Nevertheless, there are enough solid cuts to make this a strong addition to any comprehensive hip-hop collection. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
