A fine, varied set of urban contemporary mid-tempo numbers, quiet storm ballads, and a bit of new jack flavor, underrated R&B trio Whistle's final album stands as the outfit's strongest recording. The group was downsized to a trio by this point -- a factor that didn't hinder but, rather, seemed to put things into focus more. The harmonies are soothing and soulful, with lead performances that are emotive and equally wide-ranging. While previous albums like Transformation and Always & Forever each possessed several strong cuts, Get the Love is consistent throughout. From the mature, adult contemporary strains of the title cut, through the funky, jazz-tinted "Special," on to the classic love-ballad construction of "If You Don't Say," the songs, voices, and arrangements are all in the pocket. An essential listen for any Whistle fan and any enthusiast of early-'90s R&B. ~ Justin M. Kantor, All Music Guide
