All Music Guide Review

This is a retrospective of Paul Winter's work from 1980-1988, featuring cuts from most of his albums of this period (not his two more specialized Whales Alive and Wintersong). Five of the tracks were recorded in the cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, and three were recorded live in the General Assembly of the United Nations on World Environment Day in 1984, including a fine version of "Icarus," the longtime favorite from his repertoire. As usual Winter's soprano sax is supported by his Consort, and augmented by the voices of dolphins, birds, and especially wolves. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, All Music Guide
