Originally released only in Canada, this compilation was also an attractive buy for those who had all Cockburn's releases, as four previously unavailable songs were also included. The previously released older tracks mostly hail from the early- to mid-'70s era of his career and are a good representation of his talents. Two of the previously unreleased songs were also recorded then (in 1976) and deal, respectively, with the Native American in today's society ("Red Brother Red Sister") and Cockburn's conversion to Christianity ("Dweller by a Dark Stream"). The other two new songs are the searing "Loner" (a different version than the one released on Inner City Front) and "The Coldest Night of the Year," a relatively bouncy song about loneliness. ~ Rob Caldwell, All Music Guide
