Submit Your ReviewThis LP features the Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra on a pair of extensive radio broadcasts from late 1948 and mid-1949. Considering that its studio recordings were declining during this period (as Capitol records tried to cash in on the "bebop fad") and that the big band would break up altogether in early 1950, these performances are quite valuable. But more importantly, with such soloists as altoist Ernie Henry, tenor saxophonist Yusef Lateef and trombonist J.J. Johnson in addition to Dizzy himself, the music is consistently exciting.
