    All Music Guide Review

    Like Lush, My Bloody Valentine and Shallow, Medicine is an alternative pop-rock outfit that thrives on contrasts. In Medicine's world, noise and dissonance are perfectly at home with dreamy, intoxicating melodies. Sounds of Medicine isn't Medicine's most essential release; for novices, Shot Forth Self Living or The Buried Life would be a better introduction to the L.A. group's experimentation. Nonetheless, this six-song EP--which, like a lot of EPs, is a collection of various odds and ends--paints an attractive picture of Medicine's sound. From the 16-minute live performance "Lime 6" (recorded live in New Orleans in 1994) to studio recordings that include the lush "Time Baby 3" and a remix of "She Knows Everything," this is a disc that will appeal primarily to diehard Medicine fans rather than casual listeners. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
